DeShawn Jackson: Thank you! Thank you all for being here today. It’s an incredible honor to stand before you in our beloved city of Cleveland, the place that has shaped who I am and fueled my passion for public service. [Personal Introduction] My name is DeShawn Jackson, and I am proud to announce my candidacy for Governor of Ohio! Today, I’m not just launching a campaign; I’m starting a movement – a movement for a fairer, stronger, and more prosperous Ohio for everyone. [Background and Motivation] I was born and raised right here in Cleveland, in a working-class family that taught me the values of hard work, integrity, and community. My parents worked tirelessly to provide for us, and their sacrifices have inspired my lifelong commitment to serving others. From my early days as a community organizer to my years in local government, I’ve always believed that real change starts from the ground up. [Key Issues and Vision] Now, as I stand before you, I am filled with hope and determination. Ohio faces many challenges, but together, we can overcome them. Here’s how we’re going to do it: Economic Growth and Job Creation First and foremost, we must revitalize our economy. Ohioans are some of the hardest-working people in the nation, and they deserve jobs that pay a living wage. As your Governor, I will implement policies that stimulate economic growth, attract new businesses, and create sustainable jobs. We will invest in our local industries and support small businesses – the backbone of our economy. Education Reform Education is the cornerstone of opportunity. Every child in Ohio deserves access to high-quality education, no matter where they live. We will fight for better funding for our schools, support our teachers, and ensure that our students have the resources they need to succeed. An educated workforce is key to our future prosperity. Healthcare Access Healthcare is a human right, not a privilege. Too many Ohioans are struggling to afford the care they need. We will expand healthcare coverage and make it more affordable and accessible. No one should have to choose between paying their bills and seeing a doctor. Social Justice Ohio must be a place where everyone feels safe and valued. We will address systemic inequalities and fight for justice for all communities. This includes reforming our criminal justice system, protecting voting rights, and standing up against discrimination in all its forms. Environmental Sustainability Our environment is our legacy to future generations. We will advocate for sustainable practices that protect our natural resources and ensure a healthy planet for our children and grandchildren. Clean air, water, and green spaces are essential for our quality of life. [Call to Action] But I cannot do this alone. This movement is about all of us. It’s about the factory worker in Akron, the teacher in Toledo, the nurse in Columbus, and the farmer in Chillicothe. It’s about every Ohioan who dreams of a better future. Together, we can build an Ohio that works for everyone. I ask for your support, your energy, and your vote. Let’s knock on doors, make phone calls, and spread the word.
