Governor Henry Caldwell Responds to Senator Kayley Brennan’s Gubernatorial Announcement

COLUMBUS, OH – July 28, 2024 – Governor Henry Caldwell today addressed the recent announcement by Democratic State Senator Kayley Brennan, who has launched her campaign for Governor of Ohio. At a rally in her hometown of Cleveland, Senator Brennan outlined her platform focusing on issues such as justice, equity, climate action, and increased taxation to fund various social programs.

Governor Caldwell, who is running for re-election in the upcoming election on July 31st, took the opportunity to highlight the stark contrasts between his proven leadership and Senator Brennan’s agenda, which he views as out of touch with the needs and values of Ohioans.

Henry Caldwell: “Senator Brennan’s campaign is built on divisive rhetoric and policies that will hurt, rather than help, Ohio’s working families. Her plan to raise taxes on businesses and individuals will stifle economic growth and drive jobs out of our state. Ohio needs pragmatic solutions, not extreme policies that jeopardize our economic stability.”

Economic Prosperity: Governor Caldwell emphasized his commitment to creating jobs, supporting local businesses, and fostering an environment that attracts new industries to Ohio. “Under my leadership, we will continue to focus on building a strong economy that benefits all Ohioans, not just a select few. Increasing taxes and imposing burdensome regulations, as Senator Brennan suggests, will only hinder our progress.”

Education and Healthcare: While Senator Brennan advocates for expansive social programs funded by higher taxes, Governor Caldwell stands firm on improving education and healthcare through responsible and sustainable measures. “We can enhance our schools and healthcare systems without resorting to punitive tax hikes. Our focus should be on efficiency, accountability, and targeted investments that deliver real results for our communities.”

Public Safety and Community Support: Governor Caldwell also addressed Senator Brennan’s calls for broad reforms to the justice system. “We all agree that fairness and justice are paramount, but we must approach these issues with balance and common sense. Supporting our law enforcement and ensuring public safety are critical to maintaining the quality of life in Ohio. Radical changes without careful consideration of their impact can lead to unintended consequences.”

Leadership and Experience: “While Senator Brennan has made a career out of activism, Ohio needs a leader with the experience and vision to navigate complex issues and drive meaningful change. My administration has been laying the groundwork for significant progress, and I am committed to continuing this important work. We need solutions that unite us, not divisive policies that further polarize our state.”

Rachel Parker, Campaign Manager: “Governor Caldwell’s track record speaks for itself. He has demonstrated the leadership and dedication required to lead Ohio through challenging times. Senator Brennan’s proposals, while well-intentioned, lack the practical approach needed to ensure long-term prosperity and stability for our state.”

Governor Caldwell calls on all Ohioans to look beyond the rhetoric and consider the real impact of the policies proposed by his opponent. “This election is about the future of Ohio. It’s about choosing a path that promotes growth, unity, and opportunity for all. Together, we can continue building a stronger Ohio.”
