Providence, RI — Earlier this week Democratic State Senator Anna Baker introduced the Expanding Affordable Housing Programs Act, which aims to provide further funding to housing programs that would help tackle the growing unaffordability of housing throughout Rhode Island.

"Every person in Rhode Island deserves a safe place to sleep. We cannot address the growing number of people who are homeless in our community if we fail to address the price of housing. This bill represents a step in the right direction to increase the number of people in safe homes that they can afford. I hope that the state legislature will debate the bill soon." Stated Baker to a group of reporters in front of her office. She would go on to point out the growing number of homeless people and the studies that show improved economic growth when more people have housing. She would call on the state legislature to pass the bill quickly when it goes up for debate.
